The Big Question.
So the first thing people want to know is, why? Why do you want to hike 2,650 miles.... SOLO? How do I answer that? I love to hike, no I REALLY love it. The solitude, the remoteness. Being able to stand in a place that you can only get to by walking. There are just some things that can't be explained. But this I do know: I will never see the world from atop Mount Whitney if I don't hike up there. I will never experience the Knifes Edge in the Goat Rocks Wilderness if I don't hike there. There is a stretch of the trail that literally for 200 miles, you will not hear a boats outboard motor, you won't hear a motorbike or car. No manmade machines exist here. I cannot imagine that. Two hundred miles of solitude and remoteness that has never been changed by human hands, other than a narrow manmade path that runs through it. And I want to be there, walk it, take it all in and remember it forever.
